Children's Faith Formation

Children's Faith Formation Program (CFF)

Parents have first responsibility for the education of their children. They bear witness to this responsibility by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and disinterested service are the rule. The home is well suited for education in the virtues. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2223.)

Our mission is to support all parish parents with the religious education of their children. We encourage our families to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, pray together and to be involved with parish activities, and perform community service. We offer catechetical programs for Grades Prek-8, and Sacramental Preparation classes for those interested in making their First Penance and receiving First Holy Communion and preparing for Confirmation.

Faith Formation for Grades PreK-8

We welcome students who attend public or private school or who are home schooled from September through May to register for Faith Formation classes. Classes begin in the Convent and Collins Center at 2560 18th Avenue on Sunday mornings at 8:30-9:15 AM. We encourage our families to attend the Family Mass at 9:30 AM in the main church. After Mass, everyone is invited to the Lower Church for fellowship. Please click on the links located below to download a registration form if you are interested in enrolling your children.

First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion

The children meet on Sundays at 8:30 AM (with the exception of holidays) to prepare for the sacraments of Penance and Eucharist prior to their First Reconciliation (Confession) and First Holy Communion. Preparation for these Sacraments is a two-year process - Grades 1 and 2. Classes are held in the Collins Center and Convent located at 2560 18th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94116.

Confirmation

The children meet on Sundays at 8:30 AM to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Preparation is a two-year process - Grades 7 and 8. Classes are held in the Collins Center and Convent located at 2560-18th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94116. There are three evening meetings for parents and students and a retreat. These are held with the students from St. Cecilia School who are also preparing for Confirmation.
